Light Heavyweight Matt Hamil will look to rebound from his less than impressive performance against Rich Franklin when he takes on Reese Andy at UFC 92. Hamil has world class wrestling skills, but stood in front of Franklin and fought a kickboxing match against the superior striker, he was game, but was ultimately KO’d by a liver kick. Reese Andy made his UFC debut against Brandon Vera, and lost a unanimous decision in a lackluster fight. If Hamil uses his wrestling to take the fight to the mat, he should be able to dominate Andy. Both fighters hope to have better UFC 92 results

On 11/15/08 we will see if Brock Lesnar can live up to the “hype” that surrounds this former WWE wrestling superstar, or if “The Natural” Randy Couture can pull off another win at 45 years of age. Look for both fighters to try and establish control early, Brock with a takedown, and Randy with punches, and possibly some “dirty boxing” in the clinch. Couture has had trouble with larger wrestlers earlier on in his career, losing to Ricco Rodriguez and Josh Barnett, which prompted his move to Light Heavyweight. Lesnar does not have the experience of Rodriguez or Barnett however and this looks to be a whole different fight, Couture will want to move the bigger man around in the clinch and land some big uppercuts to help him secure the takedown, once on top he will look to ground and pound. Lesnar will need to conserve some of his energy, as this fight could stretch out into the 4th or 5th rounds, a distance the giant hasn’t seen
Aaron Riley will try for his first UFC win as he takes on Jorge Gurgel on the UFC91 fight card. Both fighters have a ton of experience and have faced top fighters. Read on …
Mike Brown crushed the aura of “invincibility” that Featherweight Champion Urijah Faber had built, landing two huge punches that floored the Champion, the second punch hit Faber so hard, that his feet flew up in the air and he landed on the back of his head, Brown followed up with a few punches on the ground, the referee had seen enough, stopping the fight in the first round. Paulo Filho failed to make weight, so his Middleweight belt was not on the line against Chael Sonnen, which turned out to be a good thing for Filho as he plodded around the ring looking for a takedown against an Olympic caliber wrestler in Sonnen. Filho looked like he wanted to be somewhere else, and Sonnen didn’t really press the attack, resulting in a 3 round “borefest” won unanimously by Sonnen. Leonard Garcia showed the perfect gameplan to defeat Jens Pulver, letting Pulver come forward and then counterpunch through the weak defense of Pulver, Garcia showed great power, and he may get the next crack at new Champ Mike Brown
