Top Heavyweight contenders Gabriel Gonzaga and Shane Carwin will meet March 7th on the UFC 96 fight card. Gonzaga is a well rounded fighter with great Jujitsu and power in both his hands and feet, he has never gone to a decision in his 13 MMA bouts. Shane Carwin is a former Division 2 wrestling champ with big punching power he also has not gone the distance in his 10-0 MMA career. This should be an exciting “in your face bout” Gonzaga looks more comfortable in each bout and has only lost to top Heavyweights Randy Couture and Fabricio Werdum, he likes to throw the high kick and does so with great power and quickness, he will have to contend with the great wrestling, size, and punching power of Carwin. Gray Maynard looks to keep his unbeaten record intact as he takes on a dangerous Jim Miller on the UFC96 fight card. Maynard is a 3 time all American wrestler who has much improved stand up to go with his ground game, he love to slam his opponents and work his ground and pound, his only blemish on his record comes from a slam of Robert Emerson in his UFC debut, which left both fighters KO’d and resulted in a no contest. Jim Miller is another strong wrestler, who also features strong Jujitsu, he showed good standup in his last bout, s dominating win over Matt Wiman at UFC’s Fight For the Troops in Dec. This bout could stay on the feet as both fighters are comfortable with their hands, if Maynard wants, he can probably get Miller to the mat, where he will have to contend with the Jujitsu of Miller. Rory Markham (170) vs Dan Hardy (170) Hardy countered a missed punch by Markham with his own punch that landed flush on the temple of Markham and he was done. First round KO by Hardy.
Wilson Gouveia (185) vs Nate Marquardt (185) Marquardt showed a variety of offensive attacks, dominating the slow starting Gouveia, scoring a second round TKO. Marquardt showed good combos, knees and kicks in a dominating win.

England’s own Dan Hardy will face American Rory Markham in London on the UFC 95 fight card. Hardy has good standup and Jujitsu as well, he won a split decision over Akihiro Gono in his UFC debut at UFC 89. Rory Markham was also impressive in his debut, taking out an overaggressive Brodie Farber with a head kick, Markham is also good on the ground and has won several fights by submission.

Two exciting Welterweights will mix it up on 3/7/09 on the UFC 96 fight card. Matt Brown is coming off of an impressive victory over Ryan Thomas at UFC91, he defeated Thomas by way of arm bar. Sell has good hands and is versed in Jujitsu, he dropped to Welterweight for his last bout and scored a dominate decision win over tough Josh Burkman at UFC90. Sell will look to outbox Brown and will try and land a big shot and finish, Brown has a good chin and is aggressive, another good matchup on the UFC96 fight card.
