Heavyweight strikers Cheick Kongo and Antoni Hardonk will battle on 4/18/09 on the UFC97 fight card. Both fighters have been good recently, with Hardonk winning three in a row and Kongo two, both fighters have a kickboxing background and prefer to strike, Hardonk has heavy leg kicks, while Kongo has good hands and kicks. If it goes to the ground Hardonk has Jujitsu skills training with Rickson Gracie, while Kongo works on the ground with Rampage and Bisping in England. This should be an action packed bout and Kongo hopes an impressive win at UFC97 results in a title opportunity.

Two of the worlds most popular MMA icons will meet at a catch weight of 195lbs on the UFC99 fight card. Franklin is coming off a close decision loss to Dan Henderson in a 205 lb bout, while Silva was KO’d in devastating fashion by Rampage Jackson also at 205. Silva is dropping down to 185 for future bouts, and should be a top contender there. Rich Franklin moved up to 205 after two losses against Champ Anderson Silva and seems to to be comfortable there.

With Rampage unable to fight due to minor jaw surgery, top contender Lyoto Machida will step into the main event of UFC98 on 5/23/09 to face Light Heavyweight Champion Rashad Evans. Both fighters are undefeated and have faced a “who’s who” of MMA stars including Tito Ortiz, Chuck Liddell, and Rich Franklin. The fight card will also feature a grudge match between Matt Serra and Matt Hughes.

Light Heavyweight contenders Keith Jardine and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson will face off on 3/7/09 on the UFC 96 fight card. Jackson is coming off of an impressive first round KO of his nemesis Wanderlei Silva at UFC92. Jardine was impressive in a split decision win over Brandon Vera at UFC89.
Give Jackson the edge in punching power, he is also good on the ground in the top position. Jardine is a unorthodox fighter with a kickboxing style, he has a good chin and good power he holds wins over former champs Forrest Griffin and Chuck Liddell. Look for Rampage to come out strong early, not letting Jardine get comfortable with his counterpunching and kicks, a win for Rampage results in a title shot against Rashad Evans, so look for him to be well prepared and motivated.
