Jon Fitch vs. Paulo Thiago on the UFC100 fight card.

Welterweights Jon Fitch and Paulo Thiago will face off on 7/11/09 on the UFC 100 fight card. The popularity of Fitch, and Thiago’s impressive debut put this one on the televised portion of the ppv event. Fitch defeated Akihiro Gono is his last bout a 3 round unanimous decision at UFC94. Fitch is well-rounded, with good wrestling and Jujitsu, his standup is always improving and he has a long reach for the division.

Paulo Thiago was impressive in his debut, stopping Fitch’s teammate Josh Koscheck via TKO in round one. Thiago was getting peppered with punches when he countered with a big uppercut that floored Kos prompting the Ref to stop the bout. Thiago is an accomplished Jujitsu competitor, and he may look to get the fight to the mat where most of his wins have come by submission. Another great matchup on a stacked UFC100 fight card.

Freestyle MMA will have the live results from UFC100 on 7/11/09.

Couture vs. Noguiera to headline UFC102

Three time UFC Champion Randy “The Natural” Couture
will face former interin champ Antonio Minotaro Noguiera on 8/29/09 on the UFC102 fight card. The fight will be the first ever in Portland, OR. Couture trained for many years at Team Quest in Gresham,OR and will definately be fired up for this bout. After the fight with Noguiera, Couture will have one fight remaining on a 3 fight contract he signed before his TKO loss to Brock Lesnar at UFC91. With a win over Noguiera, Couture could get the winner of the remach between Frank Mir and Lesnar, giving him the opportunity to fight for the title in his last bout. He will have to get past one of MMA’s best submission artists in Noguiera who also has decent standup.

Mirco Cro Cop vs. Mostapha Al Turk on the UFC99 fight card.

Mirco “Cro Cop” will make his UFC return on the UFC99 fight card. Cro Cop was successful in the PRIDE organization before making his UFC debut at UFC67, he TKO’d Eddie Gonzales that night, but went on to drop his next 2 UFC bouts. He is back, fighting in Germany against an English foe Mostapha Al Turk. Al Turk lost his UFC debut via TKO at UFC92 to Cheick Kongo. Look for Cro Cop to try and land a big left head kick as well as a straight left punch, while Al Turk will look to get in close and rough up Cro Cop, and work him to the ground where he is weakest. A good matchup on the UFC 99 fight card. Check back in on 6/13/09 for live results from UFC99
