Welterweights Anthony Johnson and Yoshiyuki Yoshida will enter the Octagon on the UFC104 fight card. Johnson is a dynamic striker with good wrestling skills, his 4 UFC wins have all come by way of KO or TKO, he blasted out Luigi Fioravanti in his last bout before suffering a knee injury that kept him out of action for the last 7 months.

Yoshiyuki Yoshida has a Judo background, with good submission skills, he rebounded from a tough KO loss to Josh Koscheck to submit Brandon Wolff at UFC98. He has been training at Greg Jackson’s camp in New Mexico, and hopes to derail the title aspirations of Johnson.

Veteran Middleweights Chael Sonnen and Yushin Okami will face off on the UFC 104 fight card. Okami has been a top contender in the UFC since his debut at UFC62, over three years ago, his lone UFC loss was to Rich Franklin. Chael Sonnen escaped a tight guillotine choke from Dan Miller and pounded out a decision win in his last fight at UFC98.
Look for Sonnen to get the fight to the mat early and work his ground and pound, he rarely attempts to pass his opponents guard, preferring to try and land strikes from there, he is succeptible to the triangle choke as well as the armbar, his wrestling skills are “world class”.

Okami will have a reach advantage and is the more skilled striker, he also likes the ground and pound, but will have a hard time getting Sonnen to the mat, he is skilled is submissions as well. A good technical match up on the UFC104 fight card.

Light Heavyweight Ultimate Fighter winner Ryan Bader will attempt to run his UFC record to 3-0 and his MMA record to 11-0 when he faces submission expert Eric Schafer on the UFC104 fight card. A victory for Bader will result in a high level opponent in his next bout.

Bader is an all American wrestler with KO power and good submission skills, he dominated wrestler Carmelo Marrero in his last bout, Marrero was unable to stop the excellent takedowns from Bader, and he coasted to an easy victory.

Randy “The Natural” Couture will drop down to Light Heavyweight for his next bout against Brandon Vera at UFC105. Couture was a trim 220 lbs in his last bout against Antonio Noguiera, and should have an easy weight cut to reach the 205 lb light heavy limit. The addition of Couture to the UFC105 fight card is a big plus, as the international events usually don’t sell as well as the US ppv events.The event will be held on 11/24/09 in the UK.

Couture will look to get inside the reach of the lanky Vera, and use his clinch work to get the take down, from there he will use ground and pound to try and wear down Vera.
Vera will look to keep the fight on his feet, using his accurate punches and kicks to take out Couture. Vera has good takedown defense, is skilled in Greco roman wrestling, but will probably be at a disadvantage on the ground with Couture. An excellent match up on the UFC105 fight card.

Lightweight contenders Spencer Fisher and Joe Stevenson will face off on the UFC 104 fight card on 10/24/09. Fisher has won 3 in a row and could move into title contention with an impressive performance against Stevenson. Fisher has an aggressive style with good knees, elbows and fast hands, he will take the fight to the ground if the opportunity presents itself, but will probably try and keep it standing against a Jujitsu fighter like Stevenson.

Joe Stevenson rebounded from 2 straight losses to decision Nate Diaz at the Ultimate Fighter Finale on June 20th, he used good wrestling and control to nullify the ground game of Diaz, it was a “must win “ fight for Stevenson. An excellent matchup on the UFC104 fight card.

Lightweight contenders Gray “The Bully” Maynard and Roger “ El Matador “ Huerta face off on 9/16/09 at the UFC’s Ultimate Fight Night. Huerta has been out of action since his Aug 08 loss to Kenny Florian, he reportedly wanted to explore a career in acting, much to the dismay of the UFC and especially Dana White.

Huerta is one of the divisions more exciting fighters, he has power punches, good wrestling and Jujitsu as well, he is aggressive and has a good chin. He was the aggressor in the Florian fight, which Florian used to his advantage, countering and moving out of the way of the charging Huerta, who looked a touch “one dimensional” and a bit slow. He will need a more diverse attack if he hopes to get a title shot in the near future.

Gray Maynard is a former all American wrestler who has shown nice standup in his short career. He outboxed and outwrestled Frankie Edgar in perhaps his most impressive win, in his last bout he was all over a tough Jim Miller en route to a unanimous decision win
