Paul Buentello will make his UFC return on the UFC107 fight card when he takes on Stefan “Skyscraper” Struve. Buentello went 3-1 in his UFC career, and faced Andrei Arlovski for the Heavyweight title in the “dark days” of the division, four years later the division is stacked, and Buentello is ready to make another run at the title. In the past six years Buentello has only lost twice, both times to top ranked Heavyweights Arlovski and Alistair Overeem.

Stefan Struve was smashed in his UFC debut by the highly regarded Junior Dos Santos, but rebounded with two nice submission victories, his most recent victory came against
Dos Santos sparring partner Chse Gormley, his Jujitsu was excellent as he choked out the wrestler Gormley.
Struve will need to get the bout to the mat, while Buentello will look to get inside and land the right uppercut and hooks. A good matchup on the UFC107 fight card.

Former champs Tito Ortiz and Forrest Griffin will face off in a rematch of their closely contested 2006 bout. In the first bout Ortiz controlled action in the first round with a takedown, and nice elbows from the guard, Forrest was able to regain his feet but lost the round. In the second, Forrest stuffed the takedowns and landed nice kicks and punches, using his reach and footwork round two Forrest. In the third round Forrest controlled early, keeping the slower Ortiz at bay with nice punches and kicks Ortiz scored a late takedown and used his ground and pound to finish out the fight. This round could have been scored a draw, it instead went to Ortiz in a close but somewhat unpopular decision.

Spike tv will show at least two prelim bouts from the UFC106 fight card. The bouts that are scheduled to be shown on Spiketv feature former Ultimate Fighter winner Kendall Grove vs Jake Rosholt as well as a Welterweight bout between Marcus Davis and Ben Saunders.

Light Heavyweight slugger Luiz Cane will meet UFC newcomer Antonio Rogerio Noguiera on the UFC106 fight card. Nougeira is the brother of the former UFC Heavyweight Champion “Minotauro” Noguiera, he is highly skilled in Brazillian Jujitsu, as well as boxing, and Muay Thai. He has wins over Alistair Overeem, Dan Henderson, and Vladimir Matyushenko.

Luiz Cane is a powerful striker, who has not been tested on the ground in his UFC career, his only career loss was a disqualification loss to James Irvin in his UFC debut. His last bout was an exciting 3 round war with Steve Cantwell at UFC97, the difference in the bout was Cane’s power, he was rocked several times with kicks but recovered and scored a unanimous decision win. A win over the tested and talented Noguiera will be a huge step up the Light Heavyweight ladder.

Middleweights Alan Belcher and Wilson Gouveia will try and climb the ladder of the division when they meet 12/12/2009 on the UFC107 fight card. Both fighters like to stand and bang, but are also good on the ground. Belcher was the victim of some shaky judging in his last bout, a split decision loss to Yoshihiro Akiyama at UFC100, the bout was close but Belcher had a serious edge in the standup and was competent on the ground.

Gouveia was overwhelmed by Nate Marquardt in his last bout, and was finished in spectacular fashion. He has all the tools to dominate most of the fighters in the division, and has been named by his coaches as the “best” fighter at ATT in Coconut Creek FL where he trains. His Jujitsu is superb and he has finishing power in his hands, he has been hurt in the past by lack of conditioning, and will need to be in superb shape to beat Belcher.

Belcher has an excellent Muay Thai attack and is a huge Middlewight, he has a variety of submissions and is good from the guard. He will look to grind out a victory on his feet, and use his reach and kicks to keep Gouveia at range. Another fine match up on the UFC107 fight card.
