Former WWE champ and UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar survived an early onslaught by Interim Champ Shane Carwin to secure a take down in the second round and work to a beautiful arm triangle choke which forced Carwin to tap. Carwin rocked Lesnar early, sending him backpedaling with big punches, he dropped Lesnar and scored with brutal ground and pound which opened cuts over both Lesnar’s eyes. Lesnar survived, and Carwin didn’t look the same coming out for the second round. Middleweight brawler Chris Leben scored a dramatic victory over Japanese Superstar Yoshihiro Akiyama by way of third round triangle choke submission. The two brawlers exchanged blows for the first two rounds, both fighters showing power and the ability to take a punch, Akiyama was better on the ground, while Leben had a slight edge on the feet. an exhausted Akiyama took Leben to the ground in the third, Leben worked for a triangle choke and secured it, forcing Akiyama to tap
Krystoph Sochinski and Stephan Bonnar continued their war with two more rounds of action, Bonnar finally dropped Sochinski with a big knee, and followed up with punches for the stoppage
Chris Lytle put on a ground clinic in a submission victory over Matt Brown, Brown looked strong early, with more accurate punching combined with a size advantage, that quickly changed when Lytle took him to the mat, he secured a sideways triangle choke, and isolated the right arm of Brown he locked the right arm in a straight arm bar for the verbal tap out.
