The “Iceman” Chuck Liddell looks to ice contender Rashad Evans at UFC88 this Saturday night 9/6/08. Liddell likely would be next in line to face Champion Forrest Griffin with a victory. Liddell was impressive in his last bout, decision win over Wanderlei Silva, Liddell showed some unused assets to his game, including a couple of nice takedowns, short elbows that cut up Silva, and punches in combinations. Liddell will need to use all of his tools again to beat the quick Evans, who has great wrestling and good boxing, Evans will look to use his boxing to wear down the older Liddell and then shoot for takedowns later. Liddell will look to set up his lethal right hand with his long left jab, when Liddell gets an opponent hurt, he is one of the best finishers in the business

Middleweight contenders Nate Marquardt and Martin Kampmann will meet on 9/6/08 on the UFC 88 fight card. A win by Kampmann could result in a title shot against the winner of the Patrick Cote vs. Anderson Silva matchup at UFC 90. Marquardt will need a win against Kampmann, and a Cote victory to have a chance at a title shot, given his recent loss to Silva. Both fighters are good strikers with good ground skills as well. Marquardt is coming off of a split decision loss to Thales Leites, a fight in which he lost 2 points to fouls, costing him a victory. Kampmann is coming off a submission win over Jorge Rivera, and has won three of his four UFC fights by way of submission. Marquardt will most likely take the fight to the ground where he may have the edge with his wrestling skills, however he will need to avoid the submissions of Kampmann. Another good matchup scheduled for the main event on the UFC 88 fight card.

Top Korean fighter Dong Hyun Kim will face American Matt Brown in a Welterweight fight at UFC 88. Kim had a successful UFC debut, stopping Jason Tan with elbows in the third round, he has a 10-0-1 record as a professional and looks to make a name for himself in the US. Matt Brown fought at Middleweight on the latest Ultimate Fighter series, he lost via submission to eventual winner Amir Sadollah. Brown dropped to Welterweight for his UFC debut, and looked good in stopping another former contestant Matt Arroyo in the second round. UFC88 will be held on 9/6/08 10pm est at the Phillips arena in Atlanta Georgia.
